We have had a Rolls Royce Sales Brochure made available to us. It dates from 1905 and is about the same size a a postcard. We have scanned it and want to share it with the world: it’s over 100 years old and relates to an age of motoring that we don’t appreciate these days. Here are just a few random quotes you can find in the brochure.

Rolls Royce Brochure 1905“The Power: It is transmitted from the engine to the back wheels by simple gear wheels running in oil: CHAINS, with all their objectionable features of noise, wear and tear, etc. have been ABOLISHED.”

“The Brakes: Are independent, extremely powerful, act EITHER FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS, and do not rattle.”

“It is not necessary to employ a skilled and expensive CHAUFFEUR. The mechanism of the “R&R” car, as already explained, is so simple that the merest novice can learn it throughout in a few hours”

The owner recently had it valued on the BBC Antiques Roadshow.

    In 1965 I ask Rolls Royce Factory for documentation.
    I received a lot of papers and the original Rolls sales brochure jan. 1905.
