Search engine optimisation, often a very secretive profession, has received little attention as far as University courses go. Most Pro SEOs research it all themselves in articles, forums, and blogs and try things out. These tend to be the most current sources of new SEO techniques.

Now, Rice University is offering an SEO course covering the basic principles, research, and link building - which covers solid ground that has been proven over the last few years.

Most SEO people will tell you that the key to success is understanding and researching your keywords. So don’t forget to use Google Adwords external research tool :)

It’s the first time we have seen an SEO course by a University and we applaud it and hope to see more of them. I’m sure if there’s a good take-up they’ll begin to roll it out.
