Managed hosting is a complete solution to running all your online websites. By choosing a managed hosting package over a shared hosting you gain independence whilst having the backup and support of your hosting provider. Typically, managed hosting services are suitable for businesses needing 24/7 100% uptime and don’t want to get into the nitty gritty of servers.

There are numerous benefits of managed hosting: they have advanced un-interuptable power supplies, perhaps two electricity supplies in case one goes down, scheduled backups, and the fact that you know professionals will be looking after your server on an hourly basis. Many offer on-site technicians to correct faults or problems as soon as possible, keeping your website up and online without interruption.

With decent hosting companies they can provide an SLA (Service Level Agreement) which puts the responsibility on the hosting company to keep your websites up and running 24 hours a day. Should there be a non-scheduled substantial interruption then the hosting company will contribute to costs of the downtime.

Peace of mind is one of the best benefits - because you can be sure that any problems will not require you to dig around in the server shell but this will be done quickly and efficiently by the hosting company on your behalf. The costs are obviously higher than standard shared hosting but the benefits far outweigh the costs when you need your websites up and running with no interruptions.

There are plenty of companies out there who provide good managed hosting but the one we have heard so much about is Vidahost. We’ve heard so many good things about these guys that we bought their services.

If you need to the support of 24/7, with priority support then I would definetley recommned them -> Managed Hosting from Vidahost

Paul McKenna's Instant Confidence

Hi there! We are always interested in improving ourselves by the way of self-training courses. Normally we’re into sales techniques and things like that but we recently happened upon Paul McKenna. While looking at some of his audio CDs on Amazon we came across the following testimonial on Paul’s ‘Instant Confidence’ training programme. We captured it and copied it here. We were like .. ROFL ROFL:

Is this the funniest Amazon testimonial ever written?

“I felt I really needed a bit of a pick me up after my wife ran off with her therapist so decided to give this a whizz.

I met some bloke at a works do who could do hypnotism so had him come round and give me the once over in preparation for my mental exercises.

Normally I like to listen to whale noises and the sounds of the ocean to relax but he didn’t have this so he chloraformed me instead.

I awoke some 18 hours later, rather bizarely I was completely naked except for a pair of ladies stockings and a suspender belt. I have looked through Paul McKennas’ book and can’t find any mention of this, I certainly don’t recall ever wearing this type of thing before, in fact the hypnotist must have brought them with him as there was none of that sort of thing in the flat. I’ll be buggered if I know what that was all about.

I did observe also that £180 and a carriage clock were missing, so it looks as if this chap well and truely shafted me, but he did feed the cat before he left so swings and roundabouts. Besides that’s small nuts to me, being a city trader an’ all.

I have found this book useful though some of the exercises are a bit old hat, I always enjoyed staring at myself in the mirror proclaiming how great I am anyway. I have gained a lot of confidence listening and reading this pseudo-psychology, I know for a lot of people it would be more productive and longer lasting to form positive relationships with supportive and sentient others but I’ve always despised the human race and just want a quick fix and right now.

As a result of listening to this tape and now believing I can do anything I have decided to sell up and move to Rhodesia where I’ve bought a farm and get some of the locals to work it for me for a pittance. I can’t wait ’til I go there with my enormous wodge, open the farmhouse door and tell them how great I am. Cheers McKenna.”

Amazon has since pulled the testimonial - how very unsporting and what happened to free speech, Amazon?

Since the price of fuel is now huge here’s our top ways of saving fuel.

1) Rid your car of rubbish - do you need those toolboxes in the back? - all this is weight

2) Order things online if you can

3) Get some fridge magnets and loop them with tape, put this around your fuel pipe.

4) Go the the gym You F*t B#st#ard!
and lose some weight. (go there on bike, not car)

5) Get a smaller steering wheel to save weight, and also help get your belly in YFB

6) Don’t give anyone a lift.

7) Drive naked.
All those extra kilos of clothes and shoes means more fuel :(

8 ) Dump before your drive.
That’s right, all weight counts so relieve yourself before starting.

By following these you might get a) yourself arrested or b) no mates because they all think you’re a tightarse

BTW -no 3 is a joke, don’t try this. Magnets don’t work.

Perhaps the most intriguing, entertaining, and history-making news in the USA over this summer, has been the road to the White House Election for the Next President of the United States. For the first time in history, there has been a African American and a Woman in the running; Barack Obama, born in Hawaii, is the first Black Senate in American history to run for President, where his opponent has allied with Alaskan mother Sarah Palin.

Barack Obama - John McCain PollThis is the first presidential race where both campaign leaders (Barack Obama and John McCain) are actually Senators themselves, one that has truly been a lightening speed interactive multimedia event unlike no other, where video and re-edits from supporters has highlighted and opened up new debates and allowed for new questions to be asked. Even at this time of near financial meltdown, why not make a vote on this site here and be part of the action, and in the process claim some complementary Gas tokens? See the live vote results now, make a vote yourself and claim you’re Gas tokens.

Recently we’ve encountered a really nasty trojan that hijacks both Google and Yahoo.

Since we found it diffifcult to remove - it evades many malware utilities - we thought we would share a simple solution THAT WORKS!

Noticing that one of our PC’s was behaving strangely we found that every search result on Google.co.uk was jumping off to an advertiser page. No matter what we did the click jumped to a random advertiser. It was IMPOSSIBLE to do anything.

We took leave from our web development projects to investigate and it was one of the most annoying pieces of code ever to have ever written. Even downloading a fix was impossible because we couldn’t use Google. Thinking we could quickly outsmart it we went to Yahoo and used the Yahoo Search - we were outsmarted! It hijacked Yahoo too!!!

We did notice that direct typing of URLs in the address bar was not affected but this wasn’t helping us to find a solution.

We checked out NOD32 antivirus licence, which was fully uptodate, and was showing now problems. So it must be some MALWARE!

** If you see analitic-checks.google.com when you are browsing you probably have this MALWARE **

When we tried to access many security sites our ‘Connection was reset” - the malware was filtering our internet access and any threat to it was being killed before we could get to a solution. What a pesky trojan, someone has obviously gone to lengths to prolong the life of this annoyance.

We launched SpyBot Search and Destroy - it FAILED. We updated updated - it FAILED

We jumped on another machine to research a solution … and after doing some research we found that a few other were finding a similar problem. Following a suggestion posted on Suggestafix forum we found the solution :

THE SOLUTION - MALWAREBYTES ANTI-MALWARE

We had heard good noises about this malware remover before and after reading the thread on suggestafix we downloaded it on another machine (the infected machine is blocked from accessing the site) we emailed it to the machine and installed it.

THANK HEAVENS for MALWAREBYTES ANTI-MALWARE!

after 5 minutes of scanning it found a lot of dssadw.dll, tdssl.dll tdssserf.dll + many others that had been hijacked.

It fixed the problems and then did an automatic reboot.

Woohooo! Joy .. Firefox and IE were both behaving normally and also Google and Yahoo.
