Alternative healh - Ayurvedic Medicine
Ayurvedic Medicine are health treatments originating from Indian herbs. They have a unique flavor and intoxicating aroma. Ayurveda has focused on the various aspects of herbs and their practice in our day-to-day life. Specific emphasis is given on the preparation and storage of herbs followed from generation to generation. Each Indian herb has a distinct quality and each of them is used for different purposes. There are mainly three different categories of herbs: mild, strong and toxic. Herbalists mainly use mild herbs because they have nutritive, energetic and therapeutic values without causing reactions or toxic effects.

Turmeric is perhaps most familiar as the star ingredient in powdered curry mixes. Curcumin, is the bio-active part contains a group of polyphenolic plant pigments and is responsible for turmeric’s characteristic canary yellow colour. Curry is the signature seasoning and fragrant dish of the Indian subcontinent.India’s relationship with turmeric, goes back thousands of years. Both ginger and turmeric have been cultivated in India and southeast Asia for millennia. India produces and consumes most of the world’s turmeric. The ancient Romans and Greeks, who valued its medicinal properties, revered a cousin of ginger, turmeric. Indeed, its English name derives from the Latin, which roughly translates as ‘earth-merit’. It is this merit, which has been central to much ayurvedic healing for millenia and has been entrusted from generation to generation.
Another Ayurvedic health product is Curcumin: Curcumin98 stimulates Glutathione, may assist with eye problems and has been identified in pharmacology and professional journals as being anti- inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, anti fungal and much more.

f you have ever found yourself checking the fat content on a carton of yoghurt, or if you have ever left the car in the garage and taken the bike instead then you will be familiar with Solgar’s founding philosophy: Wellness
People everywhere are catching on to this state of mind. They are realising that the insides of their bodies are just as important as their outsides. That physical appearance is only one part of the total picture of health.
Boots Herbal Stores have been serving the people of Staffordshire, naturally for over 60 years, since first opening their store in Merrial Street, Newcastle, in 1939.
In those days, the well-stocked shelves contained inhalants and balsams, pills coated with sugar and rolled in a pill machine, and tinctures made from herbs soaked in alcohol.
Many remedies would be taken home and prepared by elders, well-versed in natural ways of keeping their families fit and able.
Today, backed by a longstanding reputation - the store is a past Realfare ‘Health Food Retailer of the Year’ - and its family-run tradition, Boots Herbal Stores continues to look after the nutritional needs of the people of Staffordshire and beyond.
